Club Calais

Club Calais, a popular women’s clothing store located at 198 Bellevue Avenue in Newport, for the last 19 years, will close its doors for good later this summer.

Formerly known as Laura Jean Denim, the store originally opened in 2005 on William St, and specialized in women’s designer denim and boots. In later years, it expanded into all occasion dresses, lingerie, jewelry, sleepwear, silk, cashmere, and small gifts.

Nancy Isherwood, the current owner, has decided to retire and will not renew her lease. “This announcement is not a sad one; instead, it’s a retirement celebration,” said Isherwood.

Beginning Friday, July 12th at 10 am, all inventory will go on sale at 20% off the lowest ticketed price. Thereafter, further discounts will be taken until everything is gone. Store fixtures will also be for sale.

All store credits and Gift Certificates will be honored for merchandise purchases only and until the store closes. Isherwood encourages customers to redeem them at the beginning of the sale, when merchandise is still plentiful.

Isherwood advises customers to shop early and often for the best discounts. For up-to-date information and to sign up for discount announcements visit www.clubcalais.com.

“We would like to express our appreciation to our customers for their loyalty and support over the last 19 years. We are grateful for the memories and the lasting relationships”, said Isherwood.
