The US Attorney’s Office has announced that two men have been indicted in an alleged murder-for-hire plot against two federal prosecutors and a witness. Elijah Melton, 26, from Taunton, and Kareempires, 25, from Wareham, are facing charges of conspiracy to tamper with a witness or informant by killing or attempting to kill, as well as conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities in commission of murder-for-hire.

Melton is also facing three counts of solicitation to commit a crime of violence. The two are being held in federal custody in Rhode Island and will be arraigned at a later date.

The charges stem from a federal criminal complaint that was first filed in Massachusetts in the alleged murder-for-hire plot against the two prosecutors and a witness associated with a criminal matter that is currently pending before the US District Court in Massachusetts. The investigation into the alleged murder-for-hire plot was conducted by the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service for the District of Massachusetts with assistance from the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility in Rhode Island.
