The New England Music Organization and North End Entertainment are thrilled to announce acclaimed local artists Chelley Knight and The Dope Things as the headliners for this year’s first NIMFest concert at the King Park Gazebo on Sunday, July 7th, from 3 pm to 6 pm. Known for her soulful voice and captivating stage presence, Knight promises an afternoon of unforgettable music against the scenic backdrop of Newport’s waterfront.
Knight’s performance at NIMFest comes on the heels of her recent profile in “The Musical Journey of Chelley Knight” by Newport This Week. The article highlights her evolution from local talent to a regional sensation, drawing praise for her emotive voice and powerful performances that resonate with audiences of all ages.
The event will kick off with an opening set by Chase Ceglie and his jazz quartet, setting the tone for an afternoon of diverse musical experiences. Ceglie, a rising star in both the jazz and pop music scenes, brings a blend of traditional jazz influences with contemporary flair, promising a dynamic start to the day’s festivities.

NIMFest, short for Newport Independent Music Festival, has become a staple of summer entertainment in Newport, celebrating local and regional artists in a family-friendly atmosphere. The event is free and open to the public, inviting music lovers from across Rhode Island to enjoy an afternoon of live music in one of Newport’s most scenic parks.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to fully enjoy the outdoor concert experience. The public is encouraged to carpool as parking is limited. Alcohol is not permitted in the park. All concerts are scheduled for 3pm to 6pm with the possibility of rain dates in September, if necessary.
