The Rhode Island Governor’s Office has hired two top legal professionals to help the state pursue damages against those responsible for the Washington Bridge failure.
Max Wistow and Jonathan Savage will form the outside legal team that will be led by Wistow, who is a principal of Wistow, Sheehan & Loveley.
“We want to make it very clear – any responsible parties will be held fully accountable, and we will use every tool at our disposal to achieve that goal,” said Governor Dan McKee. “The combined expertise on this legal team will put the State in a strong position to build the best possible case for Rhode Island taxpayers and deliver the accountability they deserve.”
A release from the Governor’s Office said that Wistow has successfully recovered millions of dollars for Rhode Islanders in various cases, including the 38 Studios lawsuit and a $50 million settlement for retirees impacted by the St. Joseph’s pension fund failure.
Savage, a partner at Savage Law Partners, LLP, has more than 40 years of experience in construction law and has served as the firm’s lead attorney on a variety of public sector and governmental matters.
The legal team will begin a legal review of the Washington Bridge failure and develop a strategy to pursue damages against any responsible parties. The team will also review the forensic analysis of the bridge being conducted by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates.
