A Pawtucket woman is facing assault and child abuse charges after she allegedly assaulted police officers after her arrest for child abuse in March, the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday.

Yaritza Acevedo, 35, was charged with second-degree child abuse, two counts of simple assault, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of disorderly conduct for her alleged incident on June 26.

According to the AG’s Office, Pawtucket Police officers responded to a report of child abuse on June 26 and determined that there was probable cause to arrest Acevedo. When officers tried to arrest Acevedo, she allegedly kicked the officers and then got into a police cruiser.

Acevedo is scheduled to appear in court in April for her pre-arraignment.
