Middletown, RI -Kathleen Grace Carney, 77, of Middletown, Rhode Island, died at home on March 28, 2024. She was the wife of the late James J. Carney.
Born in Newport, RI on March 5, 1947, She was the daughter of Charles and Helen (Malloy) Tabrum. Kathy grew up in Warwick, RI and began a long working career as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed helping several different organizations over the years, including O’Brien Music and the Eye Health Center in Middletown. Most recently she enjoyed many years working at St. George’s School in Middletown. She was a strong and independent woman throughout her life, enjoying motorcycle rides with her husband Jim and many adventures. Yet her heart was at home, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her son Michael Maloney of Providence, her step daughter Colleen Karpovitz of Huntersville, NC, and a sister Shirley Dall of Maine. She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren, Sean Maloney and Katelynn Whittaker, Shannon Kendrick and Katrina Lawson, and Great-Grandchildren; Milo and Amelia Whittaker and Dylan, Luna and Bindi Lawson.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents and her husband James Carney.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 02, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, Rhode Island.
