The Newport Art Museum will welcome parents and children to the galleries for the popular Wake + Create program on Saturday, September 21 at 10:30 am. Wake + Create presents engaging, family-oriented programming designed to inspire young minds and satisfy the curiosity of every member of the family. Each Wake + Create is uniquely curated based on a theme and includes a Guided Close Looking Tour of works in the galleries, followed by engaging art making activities geared for children ages 6-10 and their families and caregivers. This event joins the ranks of the many events and educational programs the Museum currently offers in its galleries at 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport.

This month, Wake + Create participants will look at the stained glass work of American artist John La Farge, then discuss how stained glass is made, its 1,000 year history, and then end the morning by designing and creating their own stained glass-inspired artworks.

Wake + Create is free for Museum members and youth and children up to age 18. For non-members, Wake + Create is free with paid admission to the Museum. Admission prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for college students and Active Military. Reservations for Wake + Create are available at newportartmuseum.org and are highly recommended. Wake + Create is generously supported by the Hartfield Foundation and individual support of the Museum’s Annual Fund.
