Pamela E. Shakarian, 60, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 14, 2019.

A 13th generation Portsmouth native and granddaughter of Armenian Genocide survivors, Pamela Shakarian graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1976 and received a B.A. in sociology from Salve Regina University, Newport, RI, in 1981.

Pamela was a Raytheon Company employee for more than 30 years, was a lifelong member of the Portsmouth United Methodist Church, and a member of the Eureka Chapter 19, Order of the Eastern Star.

Pamela leaves behind her sister Laurie J. Shakarian, of Portsmouth, aunt and uncle Mildred L. and Laurance F. Grinnell of Portsmouth, and her many dear cousins and friends. Pamela is preceded in death by her mother and father, Marion E. (Thomas) and Charles T. Shakarian; her sister, Alison M. Shakarian; her aunts, Thelma L. (Thomas) Therrien, Gloria M. (Shakarian) Wise and her husband Raymond G. Wise, and Margaret R. Shakarian; and her grandparents, Mabel L. (Vaughn) and Henry E. Thomas, and Markrid (Najarian) and Bagdasar Shakarian.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 4-7 p.m. in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.

A celebration of Pamela’s life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Portsmouth United Methodist Church, 2732 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Portsmouth Cemetery, Turnpike Avenue, Portsmouth.
