Middletown, RI – The Saturday farmers market will move inside at Newport Vineyards in Middletown for the winter months, celebrating a seventh year providing a year-round market for locally sourced produce and foods on the Island.  Hours will change slightly for this season: 9 AM to 12:30 PM, open every Saturday.

Shoppers can choose from a wide variety of foods produced by 18 weekly vendors. Fresh fruits and vegetables; artisanal bread and pastries; locally sourced, fresh seafood; pasture-raised meat and eggs are available every Saturday, with a changing selection of artisan vendors. The Aquidneck Growers Market features quality local products, all made or grown by the market vendors. A full vendor list can be found on the ACT website: https://aquidneckcommunitytable.org/aquidneck-growers-market/.

Customers can pair their weekly grocery shopping with a cup of coffee, delicious breakfast foods, or a glass of wine while surrounded by community and supporting the local economy – there is no better place to start the weekend! Shopping at a farmers’ market supports farming, and the preservation of open space while strengthening the local economy and better health for all. The market also offers a food-scrap collection program that decreases our environmental footprint by turning food waste, which would otherwise end up in the landfill, into compost to be used in community gardens.

Exciting additions to the winter lineup this season are two popular vegan vendors, Sprout and Lentil and Barrett’s Garden. Sprout and Lentil, operated by professional chef Carmen Foy, offers delicious plant-based soups, burgers, wraps, and other crave-worthy vegan comfort food. Barrett’s Garden offers amazing dairy-free, gluten-free, small batch cheese alternatives.

Aquidneck Growers Market is open rain, snow or shine, but in the event of extreme weather, a cancellation will be posted on the Market’s Facebook page.  Aquidneck Growers Market is a program of Aquidneck Community Table.

The last Aquidneck Growers Market of the season in Newport on Memorial Boulevard will be held on Wednesday, October 31st from 2 pm – 6 pm.
