To the Editor:
There are many reasons to support Dawn Euer in the Special Election for State Senate. Here are just a few:
Dawn helped lead the movement for marriage equality to become law in Rhode Island. As a board member of Bike Newport, she has worked to provide safe streets for our cyclists and pedestrians. Dawn has been a vocal ally of Newport’s African American community through her work with Sankofa Community Connection.
Dawn has shown her commitment to the environment by serving on the City’s Energy and Environment Commission. She also runs her own law practices where she works with small businesses and social enterprises. Her eclectic experience in the community shows that she is concerned about a wide variety of issues AND also that she will take action to support her ideas and vision for our community.
She and I fought alongside each other, and many others in Newport, to edge out the Providence special interests who wanted to expand the Newport Grand Casino.
Most Importantly, Dawn is someone who I have watched work tirelessly to better our community from the ground up. I know she will bring that same energy and vision to the state Senate.
I urge everyone to vote for Dawn Euer on August 22.
