The Undersea Technology Innovation Center, a Middletown, Rhode Island-based hub for undersea technology excellence, has announced that they have welcomed two new members to its Steering Committee.

Dr. Raymond Wright, Dean of Engineering for the University of Rhode Island and Jeffrey Grybowsky, CEO of Deepwater Wind have agreed to join the eight other Steering Committee members.  The Steering Committee provides strategic guidance and advice to the UTIC, ensuring their operational excellence.

State leaders already serving on the UTIC Steering Committee include Molly Donohue Magee, Executive Director, SENEDIA; Tim DelGiudice, Chairman, Board of Directors, SENEDIA; Don McCormack, Technical Director, Naval Undersea Warfare Center; Paul Ferraro, Vice President, Raytheon; Dr. Bruce Corliss, Dean, University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography; Misha Joukowsky, President/CEO, Crawford High Performance Composites; Priya Hicks, Program Lead IR&D, General Dynamics Electric Boat; and Dr. Jim Ludes, Executive Director, Salve Regina Pell Center.

SENEDIA is Southeastern New England’s catalyst for thought leadership and innovation in undersea technology, cybersecurity and defense technologies.  The organization is focused on providing its members and the region with the latest information about opportunities in the defense and homeland security sectors and facilitates workforce development efforts.

The Undersea Technology Innovation Center is a collaborative initiative incorporating leadership from Rhode Island’s universities, government agencies, and industry to promote the rapid development, testing and commercialization of innovative undersea technology as well as advance learning for commercial, academic, and defense organization.  The focus of the UTIC is to coordinate and unify resources and commitments to more fully leverage the concentration, breadth and depth of undersea technologies already engaged and invested in this industry cluster, promoting economic development and job creation.
