Newport Police arrested two Newport men on various charges on Tuesday, March 26, according to the Newport Police Department’s Arrest & Dispatch Logs for Tuesday, March 26, through 7 am on Wednesday, March 27.

At 3:45 am on Tuesday, March 26, Benjamin Lederman, 23, of Newport, Rhode Island, was taken into custody by Officer Rayner and charged with Willful Trespass.
At 9:28 pm on Tuesday, March 26, David Harris, 51, of Newport, Rhode Island, was arrested by Officer Coates and charged with Simple Assault or Battery, Resisting Legal or Illegal Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Domestic – Vandalism/Malicious Injury to Prop, Domestic – Disorderly Conduct, Violation – No Contact Order, Domestic Violence – Simple Assault And/Or Battery – 3rd+ Offense, and Domestic – B&E Dwelling House W/O Consent.
Presumption of Innocent: Those arrested should be presumed innocent of their charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
