Where To Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Newport
The Bit Players at The Firehouse Theater
There is no better way to bring in the new year than with laughter! Come see RI’s most award-winning comedy troupe, The Bit Players, as they present their annual New Years EVE night of comedy.
THREE shows in one night (7pm, 9pm, & 11pm) each one hour long and ALL are BYOB! There will be plenty of NYE favors and extras all night long. Our last show of the night (11pm) will stop a minute or two early to bring in the New Year via our video display with Times Square in NYC. Tickets are $25 each. Brix Restaurant at Newport Vineyards
Before you head to the party kick off your night with us, or wrap up 2018 with a cozy evening by our fireplace. Midtown Oyster Bar
Ring in the New Year at Midtown Oyster Bar for Newport”s only midnight balloon drop (that we know of)! After dinner (served until 10 pm) the dining room will feature live music by Blockhead from 10 pm to 1 am. No cover.
Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina
City slickers looking to kick-back this New Year’s can also celebrate up the coast at the harbor hotspot, Gurney’s Newport, celebrating their second New Year’s since opening in Summer 2017. Indulge in a five-course NYE prix-fix menu at Scarpetta ($85/person for 5 PM seating / $100/person for 7:30 PM seating), with special holiday dishes including a Crudo Duo, Marscapone Cappellacci, and a chef’s selection of desserts. Located on the top floor of the One Pelham East building on Thames Street, and directly across from Bowen’s Wharf. DJ Kariim will be your host and aside from being Rhode Island’s favorite DJ, he will be putting together a special New Year’s Eve set that will blow minds and ears.

As always, we will be screening the ball dropping live in Times Square. However, this year we have more large format projection screens to allow for clear viewing from anywhere in the venue.
The Chanler at Cliff Walk
Celebrate the end of 2018 and the start of a new beginning from the warm confines of The Chanler this year. Ring in the New Year from our luxurious grounds with a guaranteed late checkout of 2:00 pm on New Year’s Day. You’ll have time to sleep in and indulge in a delicious breakfast or lunch before your departure.
Guaranteed late check-out on the morning of New Year’s Day will be honored for any rate plan with a check-out date of January 1st, 2019.
New Year’s Eve Programming at The Chanler: Executive Chef Matt Voskuil has crafted two special dinner tasting menus for New Year’s Eve at Cara restaurant. The festivities will continue all night long with live musical performances by The Brian Scott Band throughout the evening. The performances will begin at approximately 9:00 pm and conclude at 1:00 am. As the clock strikes midnight at The Chanler, guests can enjoy a special champagne toast and passed canapés. Please read below for additional information on our New Year’s Eve programming:
- The first seating for dinner is from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and features a six-course tasting menu for $165 per person, plus tax and gratuities.
- The second seating for dinner is from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm and features a eight-course tasting menu for $225 per person, plus tax and gratuities. This second seating also includes the champagne toast and passed canapés at midnight as well as musical performances by The Brian Scott Band.
- We will be offering our Signature Wine Pairings during both seatings.

- The Bar & Lounge will offer a limited menu and will introduce a $25 admission charge starting at 9:00 pm. This admission fee includes access to musical performances by The Brian Scott Band, our champagne toast and passed canapés. In-House Guests may present room key for complimentary admission.

Join us as we celebrate the New Year with a very special five-course tasting menu that Chef Lou has prepared as an homage to one of his heroes, Chef Joel Robuchon who passed away this past summer. Named The Chef of the Century, Chef Robuchon’s restaurants around the world have been awarded a total of 32 Michelin Stars. The most of any chef in the world.
