Colonial Jewish Walking Tours

Trace the same steps walked by the colonial-era Jewish community in Newport and see where congregants lived, worked, and worshiped in the 1700s. The hour-long walking tour by knowledgeable and engaging guides takes you through the Touro neighborhood and brings the rich history of the synagogue to life.
Numerous points of interest on the walking tour include the former home of Isaac Touro, the congregation’s first spiritual leader, and stops on Washington Square (“The Parade”), and the house occupied by Moses Seixas, the author of the famous letter to President Washington in 1790.
Walking Tour Schedule:
-The walking tour runs on Sundays, Mondays, & Thursdays at 11:00 am.
-The tour is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change without notice.
Be sure to save time for a tour of historic Touro Synagogue, before or after your walking tour!

Tickets are NOT available online.
Entrance and ticketing for the walk is the Loeb Visitors Center, 52 Spring Street, between Touro and Barney Streets.
