Today, Google announced the 55 state and territory winners of its Doodle for Google contest, including a winner in Middletown, Rhode Island.

In January, Google asked students across the U.S. to submit their ideas for the 16th annual Doodle for Google contest. For 2024, in celebration of Google’s 25th anniversary, they asked students to answer the prompt “My wish for the next 25 years…” through their art.

Mary Precia McCabe from All Saints STEAM Academy in Middletown, Rhode Island, is one of Google’s 55 state and territory winners – selected among tens of thousands of submissions! To celebrate their achievements, Google says that it sent each of the 55 students Google hardware and swag, and held celebrations in their hometowns to showcase their artwork.

Here is Mary’s artwork, and the prompt response.

Equality Majority

My wish for 25 years into the future is that there will be more equality for the deaf community and people of color. I always see how people don’t include certain demographics. I feel like if people were more accepting of others, the world would be a better place. If people actually took the time to learn sign language or about different races, they would see how hard it is to truly be accepted by others.

Google has updated doodle4google.com with a full gallery of all 55 state and territory winners. For two weeks, the 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories and freely associated states, The District of Columbia, and U.S. military bases will vote for their favorite Doodle from the 55 State and Territory Winners. These votes will help determine the National Winner. Google will announce the National Winner in June.

Mary’s artwork is included in the “Grades 6-7” group. You can access it directly here.

Check out the gallery of submissions and cast your vote before June 4, 2024, at 11:59 PST.

Doodle for Google is an annual art contest open to students in grades K-12. Students are invited to create their own Google Doodle for the chance to have it featured on Google.com, as well as win some scholarships and tech packages for them and their schools.
