A Providence man who arranged for the sale of a firearm and methamphetamine while he was in prison was sentenced Tuesday to federal prison, officials say.
Ronald Kramer, 39, was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver at least 50 grams of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver at least 50 grams of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He was arrested by the Rhode Island Department of Corrections in 2021.
The arrest stemmed from a federal investigation involving the sale of a firearm and methamphetamine pills, Kramer’s arrest was the result of an investigation involving 39-year-old Ronald Kramer of Providence.
Kramer admitted to a federal judge while he was in prison that he was aware of someone outside of the prison who wanted to buy a gun that he illegally owned and was trying to get rid of the gun, prosecutors say.
Kramer arranged for his girlfriend to meet with the potential buyer to sell him the gun. The girlfriend then made two deliveries of methamphetamine pills, totaling more than 244 grams, to the buyer who was actually an undercover officer, prosecutors say.
The 39-year-old was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison on Tuesday. He will serve four years of supervised release after his prison sentence.
