Middletown has passed an executive order that will permit the temporary expansion of outdoor dining at local restaurants.

The Town announced on Tuesday that it will be accepting applications from restaurants to permit the service and consumption of food in outdoor portions of the licensed premises on or after May 18, 2020. Restaurants with a current liquor license may also apply for the temporary expansion of their liquor service area on the same date. All applicants must adhere to the regulations issued by the RI Department of Health and the RI Department of Business Regulations for the health and safety of diners and employees, as well as the provisions and inspections stipulated by the town for parking, fire safety, and liability.

More details are contained in the Executive Order 2020-07 found on the town’s website at www.middletownri.com.
