arts around the fire

The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County marks its twenty-fifth year with a celebratory Arts Around the Fire: Special Edition on Tuesday, February 19th from 6-8pm at the Post and Beam Room of the Salvation Café, located at 140 Broadway in Newport, RI.

Elizabeth Woodhouse, ACA’s Board Chair, will introduce two initiatives recently added to the organization’s service to the County’s cultural community.  ACA will begin this year granting Artist Awards to support Newport County artists’ engagement with community and has a new, user-friendly Fiscal Sponsorship process to help artists gather resources to support their projects.  ACA Board members will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and help members understand guidelines and think about applications. The evening will include music by Lois Vaughan and Colin Baylor, with hors d’oeuvres by Salvation Café and a cash bar.  People will have an opportunity to become an ACA member.

Since 1994, the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County’s mission has been to promote and advance arts and culture in Newport County for the benefit of the community.  The ACA advocates for the arts by offering workshops and networking events for the benefit and empowerment of the County’s artistic and cultural community, as well as annualrecognition ofchampions of the arts and exceptional students of the arts with the Tinney Scholarship.

For information about the ACA visit the website at www.newportarts.org.  The Arts & Cultural Alliance thanks Salvation Café for hosting Arts Around the Fire.  Arts Around the Fire will resume its monthly networking evenings on Tuesday, March 19th
