Salt Water at the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina will be host of the Annual Newport White Party on Saturday, August 27th.
The event is scheduled from 6 – 10 p.m. and will include entertainment, food, drink and most likely, a beautiful sunset.
The feedback from the inaugural event motivated the organizers to turn it into an annual affair. By 2013 they decided to step it up and do a Sunset Harbor Cruise with 100 plus friends. It was such a hit it became the big event everyone looked forward to each year. With that success a bigger venue was necessary.
Also, along with the costs they were turning profits. It was decided at that moment that all profits would be given to local charities including Wounded Warrior.
The last two years brought the event to the Rooftop at the Viking, filling the venue with over 180 people plus and a waiting list 30 people.
The tragic events that surrounded the 2013 Boston Marathon struck close to home. Friend and party regular Heather Abbott lost part of her leg in the attack. Her push to help assist fellow amputees, led the party organizers, Adam Manoli and WPRI Sports Reporter JP Smollins, to donate a portion of proceeds to her Foundation.
In addition to the Heather Abbott Foundation a portion of proceeds will go to “Boston Strong New York Tough” for families fighting cancer.
