Beverly A. Maitland, 84, of Newport died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center in Newport, RI. Mrs. Maitland was born May 28, 1932 in Bridgeport, CT. She is the daughter of the late Maurice and the late Gwendolyn (James) Welch.
She was married to the Late Francis Willis Maitland.
She is survived her children; Beverly Ann Short of Germantown, TN and Christopher W. Maitland II of Middletown. She is also survived by her siblings Gwendolyn M. Ruggerie and William S. Francis Jr. and her grandchildren, Desiree, Victoria and Tyler Maitland, Christy, Ashley and Lare Short, and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son Frank W. Maitland Jr., and her brothers Maurice C. Welch and William C. Welch.
A graveside service will be held on Friday June 24, 2016 at 11am in St. Paul’s Churchyard, 2679 East Main Road in Portsmouth, RI 02871
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association 245 Waterman Street Suite 306 Providence, RI 02906.
