1 – Hotel Viking Wine Festival – March 4th & 19th

One Bellevue, the award winning restaurant at Hotel Viking in Newport has announced the Viking Wine Festival, a sequence of exceptional winemaker-hosted dinners featuring some of the top personalities from the world of wine. 2 – Sunday Gallery Sunday  – March 5th:

SUNDAY GALLERY SUNDAY was realized amongst a group of like-minded gallery owners and operators in Newport after attending several opening receptions and arts-oriented gatherings together in the fall of 2015.

The creators of this new event series will bring artists, artisans and art enthusiasts together while infusing the community with art, art viewing and education through self-guided options as well as a guided tour on the first Sunday of every month. The self-guided tour will have a map available at participating galleries and sponsors. 3 – Newport St. Patrick’s Day Pint Nights – March 5th – 11th:

Eager with anticipation for the 2016 60th Annual Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade?  Well, Newport Storm’s Spring Irish Red Ale has been named official beer of the parade for the fifth year! Newport Storm and the Parade Committee will host a pint night at a different bar each night of parade week, Grab a Spring Irish Red Ale and $2 of the purchase goes right to the parade committee and the commemorative pint glass . Grab all the details at NewportStorm.com

4 – Newport Art Museum’s Art After Dark: In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb – March 10th at 5pm

Animate this wintery eve with friends and family at the Newport Art  Museum! Allow the vibrant works on view in the galleries to inspire and delight you. Revel in Islay Taylor’s extravagant mixed media neckpieces, savor Lost Art Cultured Foods lovingly crafted, delicious krauts and kimchi, gaze at the wonder of the night sky with Skyscrapers, Inc. Amateur Astronomical Society of Rhode Island’s incredible telescopes, sip drinks in the Library, dig into our DIY crafts, explore with the scavenger games, and look closer with our themed guided tours! Admission is free for Members. ($10 suggested donation for non-members)

5 – Expo & Job Fair – March 11th at 4pm

The Newport County Chamber of Commerce’s EXPO has continuously provided local businesses the opportunity to network and share information about their products and services to more than one thousand local attendees for 21 years. The evening’s events will feature a business-to-consumer trade show featuring local and regional businesses including many new exhibitors. Live entertainment, live radio broadcasts, interactive displays, food sampling and wine tastings will take place throughout the EXPO. Many great door prizes are being given away by exhibitors throughout the entire event.

The second annual Job fair will be held in conjunction with Chamber’s EXPO. Last year’s sold out Job Fair saw hundreds of applicants and this year more are expected. Those companies interested in this year’s Job Fair have the opportunity to purchase a table and present their open positions to an array of prospective employees.

The EXPO and Job Fair are open to both Chamber members and non-members, registration can be found online at NewportChamber.com. There are full booths and half booths available to EXPO exhibitors. The EXPO fee includes exhibitor booth an 8 x 6′ space, a 6′ skirted table, two chairs and company sign. If a half booth is selected, two exhibitors will share the 6′ table. The Job Fair fee will include a 6′ skirted table, two chairs and table tent sign. 6 – The Irish Revival 5 Beers + 5 Courses – March 11th at 7pm

The Irish Revival Beer Dinner 5 Beers + 5 Courses will be held at ‘VUE on March 11, 2016 at 7:00pm.

Hosted by Revival Brewing & Russell Morin Catering & Events, this dinner will consist of five different beers served with five different courses. $55 Per Person.

7 – 60th Annual Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade – March 12th at 11am

The 60th Annual Newport Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be held, rain, snow, or shine, on Saturday, March 12th 2016.

**The What’sUpNewp Crew will have the most complete and comprehensive guide to what’s happening and to do around town as we get closer to the big day.**

The parade will begin promptly at 11:00am from Newport City Hall and will proceed to Carroll Avenue at Saint Augustin’s Church in the heart of the Fifth Ward. The parade this year is estimated to last 2 hours and will include Pipe Bands, Marching Bands, Fife & Drum Corps, Clown Units, reenactment units, and a host of local, state, and regional organizations including police and fire units, social/fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Schools, and non-profits.

8 – A Night To Remember Fashion Show – March 24th at 6pm

The highlight of the evening will be a “celebration of creativity” fashion show. StyleWeek and Providence-based designer Maria Del Carmen Mercado will headline the runway with a collection of one-of-a-kind formal and semi-formal dresses. Rogers High School students will showcase a collection of their own “decked out denim,” and “local celebrities” will be strutting down the runway in fabulous finds from local boutiques—all for a good cause.

9 – Barrel of Laughs Comedy Night – March 25th at 7pm

Join Newport Vineyards for an evening of wine and merriment as comedians Nick Lavallee, Marie Forster and Jeremy Furtado get the crowd going for headliner Lamont Price to deliver a barrel of laughs.
