House Representative Lauren Carson Announces Re-Election Campaign Continuing to Put Newport First

Representative Lauren H, Carson has declared that she is seeking re-election to a third term for House District 75 Representative.

“I am very excited to announce my candidacy for re-election for Rhode Island General Assembly House District 75.

My purpose in seeking re-election in the General Assembly is simple: I believe that I have served Newport and the State of Rhode Island very well and I have more work to do. My record speaks for itself: I have worked hard on a wide variety of issues of concern to my constituents. My years of experience as civic leader, small business owner and community advocate in Newport have prepared me well.”

First elected in 2014, Carson has served as the Chairwoman of both the House Study Commission on Tourism and the House Study Commission on Sea Rise and Flooding. Carson has held over fifteen constituent meetings throughout Newport in her two terms meeting with hundreds of constituents throughout the City. Carson also serves on the House Small Business, Oversight and Municipal Government Committees in the House.

“I remain committed to our shared vision of Newport, the community that we love. I will support economic vitality, environmental resilience and the quality of life that has drawn us to live and thrive in this special place.

Once again, I will be running a grass roots campaign. Once again, I will be walking in our neighborhoods of Newport talking to voters about what’s on their minds. My commitment to local and state issues has made me a dynamic choice for the Rhode Island Assembly. Join me to continue the campaign that includes all the voices of Newport House District 75 and speaks to our most important concerns.”

During her two terms of office in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, Carson has been recognized as the 2017 Champion for Seniors by the Edward King House, the 2016 Hospitality Ambassador of the Year by the Rhode Island Hospitality Association and the 2016 Legislator of Year by the Rhode Island Conservation Districts for her work on environmental issues. Carson holds a Masters in Business Management and Masters in History from the University of Rhode Island and lives in the Point.
