Middletown, RI – OceanPointe Christian Church has announced that they will serve as one of more than 450 churches around the world that will host Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, simultaneously on Friday, February 9, 2018. Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs, ages 14 and older.
The only Night to Shine event in Rhode Island will take place beginning at 6pm at the Atlantic Resort, 240 Aquidneck Ave. in Middletown. Individuals with special needs across Rhode Island and surrounding communities in Massachusetts and Connecticut are invited to take part in this very special night at no cost to them. Registration is open now at http://oceanpointeri.com/nts/. The deadline to register is Tuesday, January 9, but those wishing to attend are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible, as space is limited.
Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd, and even paparazzi! Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors, and, of course, a dance floor…all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom!
“Night to Shine is an incredible night. Lights…music…limos…dancing…and best of all, each honored guest being crowned king or queen of the prom! I love what one pastor shared with me, ‘We love this event because it smells like Jesus,’” said Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation. “We continue to be amazed by how God has grown this event into a worldwide movement, celebrating people with special needs. Though the statistics are incredible, this is not about the numbers. Above everything else, our goal is to share God’s love with people with special needs while giving Him all the glory.”
The Tim Tebow Foundation provides each church host with materials and personal guidance, and has committed more than $3.5 million in financial support to hundreds of churches needing assistance in hosting the event. When Night to Shine launched in 2015, 44 host churches and 15,000 volunteers worked together to honor more than 7,000 kings and queens of the prom. Last February, the event grew to 375 churches and 150,000 volunteers, with more than 75,000 honored guests with special needs. 2018’s Night to Shine is expected to take place in more than 500 locations in all 50 states, and on six continents.
