The Newport County YMCA has partnered with RhodySquash offering a permanent home for their program in Newport County, it’s being called a “perfect match with a combined focus on healthy living and social responsibilities” by both organizations.

“RhodySquash provides an opportunity for the youth of our community to achieve their personal best through the integration of academics, community service and mentorship anchored by the sport of squash and the objective of self-actualization. The partnership with the Newport County YMCA will allow RhodySquash to open our program and our hearts to more great kids in our community. Squash is a sport that challenges the body and the mind. Anyone can play and it’s a life sport,” said Ann Guinan, Executive Director, RhodySquash.

RhodySquash is a non-profit after school enrichment program for no cost to accepted students on Aquidneck Island. Urban squash programs across the country have seen great success raising their student’s GPAs, improving standardized testing performance, teaching the importance of good exercise habits and nutrition, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and building awareness of the importance of community service. Squash players are paired up with tutors and mentors to ensure their success both on and off the court.

“The Newport County YMCA recognizes RhodySquash as a key partner in our efforts to provide youth in Newport County opportunities to be the best and healthiest versions of themselves. We are thrilled to open our doors to Ann and the rest of the RhodySquash family and look forward to our continued relationship in the future,” said Mike Miller, CEO, Newport County YMCA.
