To kick off the New Year the Newport County YMCA will host a Chose to Lose Program to encourage members of our community to the start the year of right and focus on their health. The Y has been working hard with Personal Trainers and Nutritional Experts to make the 2018 Chose to Lose Program the best one yet.
Each participant is paired up with a Fitness Coach and works with their team to meet their individual goals. The program runs for 10 weeks from January 2nd through March 13th. Participants meet once a week with their Fitness Coaches and are given 7 weekly challenges to provide a holistic and well-rounded approach to their health to help them reach their fitness goals. Participants also meet with Nutritional Experts to discuss healthy eating habits.
You do not need to be a member of Y to join. The Y encourages participants to join the program with a buddy, but you can register as an individual. This is a competition and winning teams are based on highest percentage of team weight loss, highest percentage of individuals weight loss and points earned throughout the program.
As part of the new 2018 Program Model, each participant gets a free Blood Pressure Kit, t-shirt and opportunities to win fun prizes! The Blood Pressure Kits are part of a nationwide YMCA initiative to encourage individuals to take ownership of their heart health, reduce stress and improve quality of life. Members of the community can participate in the Blood Pressure Program without joining the Chose to Lose Program.
