Newport Art Museum encourages young artists to Stand Tall & Be Proud at Second Saturday

The Bit Players

The Newport Art Museum will welcome parents and children to the galleries for the popular monthly Second Saturday program on Saturday, February 10 at 10:30 am. This event joins the ranks of the many events and educational programs the Museum currently offers in its galleries at 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport.

This month we’ll be honoring our differences, celebrating our uniqueness, and taking playfully proud portraits in the galleries. Taking inspiration from a selection of portraits currently on display in the Museum’s stairwell and galleries, young artists will decorate their own cardboard picture frame and will have their photo taken by professional photographer, Kaynisha Johnson.
NEW TIME!

Second Saturday will begin promptly at 10:30 am in the Griswold House with a Gallery Guided Close-Looking Tour of a few selected works of art, immediately followed by special themed Second Saturday programming.

NEW! FREE ADMISSION FOR YOUTH & CHILDREN

The Second Saturday program is free for Members and youth and children up to age 18. For non-members, the Second Saturday program is free with paid admission to the Museum. Admission prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for college students and Active Military.

About Second Saturday

The Second Saturday program was launched in 2015 to engage young families in creative looking and making activities in the galleries of the Newport Art Museum. Second Saturday is designed to inspire young minds and satisfy the curiosity of every member of the family. Each Second Saturday is uniquely curated based on a theme, and includes a variety of activities geared for ages 3-10, and their parents. It is held at 10:30 am, on the second Saturday of each month.

Each Second Saturday activity is free with paid Museum admission.
Museum members and (new this year!) children to age 18 enjoy free admission to the Museum.

Second Saturday is generously supported by the Hartfield Foundation.
