The Fort Adams Trust has announced that over the weekends of April 29th – May 14th, over 850 visitors took advantage of the Trust’s Free Tours promotion of the Eisenhower House and over 300 Newport County residents enjoyed the free fort tours.
The Free Tours’ event was part of a three-weekend promotion that the Fort Adams Trust did to invite Newport County residents to tour Fort Adams and the Eisenhower House. The free weekend tours were are all part of the Fort Adams Trust’s spring membership drive to show appreciation of Newport County residents’ support of the Trust and its properties.
“The 850+ tours of the Eisenhower House were much more than we anticipated and the Trust is thrilled with the outpouring of interest especially as the House had been previously only open for private events,” stated Rob McCormack, Director of Visitor Experience for The Adams Trust, in a provided press release. “Given that the Eisenhower House was open for just two hours per weekend day and that we had inclement weather for a third of those days, the attendance could not have been any better,” McCormack further added.
“Our goal was to enable Newport County residents to enjoy the fort tours and see the Eisenhower House for the first time as a gesture of gratitude for their local support of what the Trust offers,” commented Sandy Kristiansson, Chair of the Fort Adams Trust’s Marketing Committee. “I am sure that their visits will translate into recommendations to other family members and visitors which will make our local residents the Trust’s biggest advocates. We couldn’t ask for more,” he additionally stated.
