Newport Holiday Stroll will offer free parking, complimentary gift wrapping, uniformed store hours, special events, in-store offers, special events and discounts at local restaurants.

Every dollar that you, we and I spend at an independent business returns three times more money to the local economy than one spent at a chain, that’s the thought process behind the upcoming inaugural Newport Holiday Stroll.

Newport Holiday Stroll

The economic impact of shopping local, as well as the desire to brand Newport as New England’s Premier Holiday Shopping Destination is what is driving eight local business owners to host, organize and plan this inaugural event.

While Newport has amazing events, hotels and restaurants during the holiday season, many agree that too often retail seems to be the last thought or an after thought with marketing efforts or in a visitors plans.

This group hopes to change that with two weekends of events, December 3rd – 4th and 10th – 11th.

Free parking, special events, in-store specials, complimentary gift wrapping, uniformed store hours, sip and shops, Carolers, Santa, live music, 15% discounts at participating restaurant with receipt from retail purchase and more events are planned during the two weekends.

The event is being organized and powered by Ryan Belmore and Tyler Bernadyn of What’sUpNewp, the idea all came from recent conversations with Kristen Coates of Kristen Coates and Karen King of Style Newport. The local business owners and residents on this committee come from Anchored In Pink, Bowen’s Wharf, Coast To Country Outfitters, Island Outfitters, Kristen Coates, Lemon & Line, Patagonia, Style Newport, Team One Newport, The UPS Store and What’sUpNewp.

Enjoy a stroll through Newport to find unique New England events like the Nutcracker performed by Island Moving Company at Rosecliff, live entertainment throughout the city including busking and caroling, and fun for the whole family with ice skating downtown and the Bowen’s Wharf 46th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa Claus, dozens of local restaurants serving everything up from apple cider and pumpkin spiced lattes to New England Clam Chowder to locally sourced sea-to-table cuisine, and of course, the opportunity to get all of your holiday shopping done in New England’s Premier Holiday Shopping Destination!

Find hand crafted and local artisan made gifts at hundreds of shops open all season long, many serving refreshments as well as special offers and discounts during the Newport Holiday Stroll!

We hope to see you at the kickoff of the Inaugural Newport Stroll on Saturday, December 3rd .
