“It was a memorable day for a lot of reasons as Open Season Catering from Warwick took the title in the Clam category after placing second last year while Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School was dethroned in the Seafood category by Nancy’s Barn from Ireland.  However, we can’t feel too sorry for the students and their instructors as the school came out on top in our new Red category to give them two consecutive titles,“ said Michele Maker Palmieri, Owner and President of Waterfront Productions, the parent company of Newport Waterfront Events.  “We couldn’t have asked for a more picture perfect day for the competition and we want to thank all our attendees, as well as our competitors, sponsors and media partners.”

The original and longest-running chowder championship in the country features the recipes of award-winning chefs representing restaurants, catering companies, clam shacks and culinary schools, as well as other fun ingredients including the Newport Oyster Festival, the Stop & Shop Culinary Stage, live music and a variety of entertainment for all ages.  Competing chefs carefully prepare 100 gallons of delicious chowder and serve samples of their creations to the thousands of chowder loving festival attendees who also serve as judges.
