Gansett Cruises Celebrates 10 Years of Being on The Water

Gansett Cruises, the award-winning harbor tour company located on Bowen’s Landing on the Newport waterfront, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

Captain Jeff O’Brien launched the company in June of 2007 with the start of the Tall Ships Festival that year. At the dock, M/V Gansett and her crew were immersed in the oldest traditions of the sea and were part of the action from sunrise to well after dark.

In the intervening years, Gansett Cruises has done an outstanding job of offering family friendly, quiet, relaxing and delightful cruises of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay’s East Passage in the comfortably cushioned and sun-shaded deck, or on the top ‘sunny side’ deck with guides, many of whom grew up on these waters, enthused to share the legends and rich history of their homeport.

This has resulted in Gansett Cruises winning many coveted awards including a 2013 Yankee Magazine Best of New England Editors’ Choice for “Best Boat Tour”, a 2009 Best of Newport County from Newport Life Magazine, and a 2015 RI Monthly Best of RI Editors’ Choice “Best Boat Tour”. In addition, Gansett Cruises is currently the Number One ranked boat tour on the social review site TripAdvisor out of twenty-three tour boat operators in Newport harbor.

With tour guides who regale and entertain passengers with the fabled history of the area, a Gansett Cruises tour is an ideal choice for out of town guests as it is also a celebration of Rhode Island specialties. On every cruise, there’s something special and complimentary from the galley that is representative of Rhode Island cuisine and culture. The crew serves Del’s Lemonade, Coffee Cabinets, RI State Clam Quahog “Stuffies“, Champagne Toasts (Sunset Cruise only) and more. Guests on board discover the true flavor of The Ocean State. All compliments of the Captain.

Reflecting on the last ten years, Captain Jeff O’Brien had this to say “We are so thankful for all of the community support these past ten years and humbled by all of the accolades for Gansett Cruises. We’ve met some really great people from all over the world and enjoy sharing the history and beauty of our home port in Newport.”
