It feels like it was just yesterday (it wasn’t, it was May 15th) that we were writing about and congratulating the 704 who were graduating from Salve Regina University, hard to believe that it’s time to welcome the Seahawks back and the Class of 2020 to Newport.
Salve Regina‘s Class of 2020 are set to move in on Sunday, September 4th while returning resident students are set to move in on Monday, September 5th. (A Look at What Was Happening in Newport The Year Salve’s Incoming Class of 2020 Were Born)
The first day of classes for the fall 2016 semester is September 7th, 2016, the 2017 University Commencement is set for May 21st.
For those new or returning students, Salve Regina University has shared this Summer News Update;

- Returning students: Check-in will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5.
Students should report directly to their assigned residence hall or apartment. Residence Life staff will not be available to assist with check-in until the scheduled time. Learn more about what to bring, what not to bring and things to coordinate with your roommate(s).
Transfer and international students: Incoming transfer students have the option to move in Sept. 1 or 2 to attend Orientation on Sept. 2. International students arrive Aug. 28 for international student orientation.
Early arrivals: Early arrivals to campus are permitted only for students with exceptional travel distance (outside the Northeast) or students who are required to arrive early for a University-sanctioned event, sport or activity. Learn more about early arrivals.
Lot closures: The parking lots for Miley, Hunt, Reefe and Moore halls will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Remaining vehicles will be subject to ticketing and/or towing. It is essential that these lots are empty for loading purposes during the move-in process.
Explorientation helps new students meet people, learn about Salve Regina and its campus and prepare for a successful year in college. During Explorientation, students meet their First Year Experience peer mentor, who co-facilitates the First Year Transitions (FYT) course with an instructor. Peer mentors are current students who have volunteered to support new students as they transition into our social and scholarly community.
During Explorientation, students participate in volunteer work through the annual Day of Service and attend Convocation, a Salve Regina tradition that welcomes new students to the University. They can also check out the ThinkFast game show, attend an outdoor movie, stop by the McKillop Library open house, connect with clubs and organizations on campus during Club Rush, learn about work study jobs during the job fair, and explore the campus and surrounding community.
