Have an ancestor or relative who lived in Newport in 1880?
If you had, or think you had, an ancestor who lived in Newport during this time, please come to the Salve Regina University Library and share your history on Saturday, April 29, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m..

Students from Salve Regina University and Fairfield University will be available with the complete Newport 1880 Census on their computers, just like Ancestry.com.
They will search for your ancestors or relatives. Sit with them and share your family’s history of coming to Newport. The students will record your history, and link to the Census records, which will become an invaluable addition to the archives of the Museum of Newport Irish History. All are invited to come and share your proud Irish heritage!

If you plan to attend or would like to learn more, please email or phone:
Ann Arnold at NewportIrishHistory@gmail.com or 401-841-5493

Project under the direction of Prof. Kurt C. Schlichting, Chair in Humanities & Social Sciences Department and Professor of Sociology at Fairfield University, with support from Prof. John F. Quinn, History Dept. Chair, Salve Regina University.
