The Environment Council of RI will host their 2017 Annual Meeting on Monday, June 5th at Emmanuel Church in Newport.

The Environment Council of Rhode Island (ECRI) is a coalition of over 60 Rhode Island organizations as well as individuals whose mission is to serve as an effective voice for developing and advocating policies and laws that protect and enhance the environment.  As the Rhode Island affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, ECRI works to establish and maintain meaningful working relationships with members of Congress, federal agencie, and non-government organizations to advance environmental protection affecting all fifty states and the world.

The theme this year for their Annual Meeting is “Green infrastructure” with a focus on the work to manage stormwater on Aquidneck Island. Before the meeting, there will be a bus tour of Green Infrastructure projects on the island. The tour leaves the Emmanuel Church at 3:20 pm and will return at 5:15 pm. The meeting starts at 5:30.

According to their website, speakers at the Annual Meeting will include Jeff Diehl, Executive Director of the RI Infrastructure Bank, and Tom Ardito, Executive Director of the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission.
