City Council Approves @ The Deck’s Entertainment License Expansion

Newport City Council approved @ The Deck’s application to expand their entertainment license on Wednesday evening, the approval allows the waterfront restaurant to increase their maximum decibel from 65 decibels to 75 decibels.

@The Deck falls under the Waterfront Business Zoning (WB), according to the City Of Newport Zoning map. According to Newport City Ordinance 8.12.080., “Maximum permissible sound levels by receiving land use”, the maximum allowed dBA in the WB district is 55 dBA from 1 am to 7 am and 75 dBA during all other times.

Until now, @ The Deck and The Pier have both been restricted to a lower level than other restaurants, a level of 65 DBA.

Several neighboring residents to voice their objection to expansion during public hearings in front of Newport City Council on April 12th and April 26th.

The application was voted 6-0 at both meetings, with Councilor Leonard recusing herself.
