Multiple sources are reporting Cambridge (Maryland) Police Chief Daniel Dvorak, who served the Newport Police Department before taking on the role, was placed on temporarily administrative leave this week due to an issue that ties back to his previous position in Newport.

Daniel Dvorak retired as a Lieutenant after 22 years on the Newport Police Department in January of 2015.

WMDT reports that Chief Dvorak has been reinstated but was put on administrative leave last week because some concerns were raised about equipment in Chief Dvorak’s possession that he used in his computer management role with the Newport Police Department.

Dvorak told The Star Democrat in a written statement that “I was placed on administrative leave while this was investigated. Once I received a statement from Newport confirming I was authorized to possess this equipment I was reinstated.”

According to multiple sources, the equipment found was an aircard and laptop computer that Cheif Dvorak says he used for (and to occasionally help) the Newport Police Department.
