Newport Pride today shared details for its annual free Pride Festival, a vibrant and inclusive celebration of the LGBTQ+ community that will take place on the lawn of the Great Friends Meeting House from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday, June 29.

According to Newport Pride, this year’s festival promises to be the biggest and best yet. It will feature a day filled with live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to connect with local organizations and businesses.

The Newport Pride Festival will kick off with a lively bike parade (roller skates, too!) through downtown Newport on Thames Street, showcasing the vibrant LGBTQIA+ community of Newport and its surrounding communities. Following the parade, the festival grounds will open to a diverse array of activities and attractions from 12 pm to 6 pm, including:

  • Live Performances: Enjoy a full lineup of talented musicians, drag performers, and dancers on the main stage.
  • Community Resources: Learn about local LGBTQ+ organizations and services, and find out how to get involved and support the community.
  • Family Zone: A dedicated area with activities and entertainment for children and families.
  • Vendor Marketplace: Explore booths from local artists, craftspeople, and businesses offering unique products and services.
  • Food and Beverages: Savor delicious offerings from a variety of food trucks and vendors, including options for all dietary preferences.

“We are thrilled to bring the Free Pride Festival back to Newport,” said Daniel Cano, Executive Director of Newport Pride in a statement provided to What’sUpNewp. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together in celebration of love, diversity, and equality. We are committed to making this festival accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

The Free Pride Festival is made possible through the generous support of Newport Pride’s sponsors and volunteers. Newport Pride says that it is still accepting volunteer applications, so anyone interested can find more information on their website at Newportprideri.org/prideweekend.

Newport Pride is a nonprofit organization that supports and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in Newport, Rhode Island. Through events, advocacy, and education, Newport Pride creates a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
