The Newport Restaurant Group (NRG), a collection of nine unique restaurant concepts throughout Rhode Island, is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a selection of menu specials on Thursday, February 14th in addition to the restaurants’ full menus.
The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar, located at 1 Sayer’s Wharf in Newport, will feature two special appetizers: a Seafood Crepe with lobster, crab, scallop, caramelized fennel, shallot, and a blood orange beurre blanc and Red Beet Vichyssoise with a rye crouton and dill crème fraiche. A Surf ‘n’ Turf entrée will feature a grilled 10 oz filet, horseradish potato croquette, swiss chard, mushrooms, crispy leeks, and lobster mousseline. The evening’s dessert will be a Tasting of Chocolate for Two: white chocolate-lavender mousse with a malted milk chocolate truffle and dark chocolate-chili pate with raspberry and passion fruit.
22 Bowen’s, located at 22 Bowen’s Wharf in Newport, will feature two special appetizers: Pork Ragu: braised pork and fresh rigatoni with Narragansett creamery ricotta, parmesan cheese, herbs and Fried Artichokes withlemon crème fraiche and roasted olives. Entrée specials include Surf & Turf: porcini rubbed dry aged sirloin, RI mushrooms, lobster tail, white sweet potatoes, demi; and Atlantic Halibut with black pepper, parmesan risotto, butternut nage, mustard greens; while a Root Vegetable Gratinof sweet potato, potatoes, parsnips, turnips, cheddar, and herb crumbs will be offered as a side dish. A dessert of Berries & Cream,withpâte à choux, macerated berries, pastry cream, whipped cream, and dark chocolate will be available.
At Hemenway’s, located at 121 South Main Street in Providence, guests can enjoy a special appetizer ofBeef Carpaccio served with a quail egg, caper aioli, pickled vegetables, truffle oil, and sweet potato chips; entrees will include Grilled Filet & Butter Poached Lobster Tail with asparagus, black pepper jus, Jerusalem artichoke puree, and béarnaise; Jonah Crab-stuffed Skate Wing with herb roasted tomatoes, fennel, arugula, pecans, blistered tomatoes, and grenoble sauce; and pan seared Black Sea Bass with sesame ginger carrots, asparagus, scallion, maitake mushroom, dashi, mint, chili oil, radish, and lemon zest. Dessert will feature a Warm Butter Cake with whipped almond anglaise, candied pistachips, crystalized rose petals, and kulfi gelato.
Trio, located at 15 Kingstown Road in Narragansett, will featureBeet Tartare with hazelnuts, crème fraiche, Endive, and blood orange; Lobster and Crab Tortelloni with wild mushrooms, peas, carbonara, and champagne sabayon; and a Brownie Waffle Sundae: a warm brownie waffle topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, walnuts, cherries, and whipped cream.
Guests at Waterman Grille, located at 4 Richmond Square in Providence, can enjoy Oyster & Champagne Veloute with potato, celery, and chives; pan seared Halibut with sunchoke puree, maitake mushrooms, pearl onions, and a winter truffle emulsion; and for dessert, a Venus De Milo: white chocolate shell, lavender biscuit, rum bubbles, sea salt foam, caramel sponge, coconut ice cream, and sugar tuile.
The Boat House Restaurant, located at 227 Schooner Drive in Tiverton, will offer a selection of savory specials, such as a Fried Oyster Salad with Bibb lettuce, cornichons, capers, Old Bay vinaigrette, and brioche croutons; Scallop Ravioli with lobster and bay cream sauce; and Crispy Short Rib with thyme roasted carrots and pommes puree. A sweet special will feature a molten Chocolate Truffle Cake with red velvet gelato.
