To the Editor:

I am writing to endorse the candidacy of Susan Taylor, who is running at-large for the Newport City Council. For the last two years Susan has been the representative of the First Ward and has done admirable work, not just on behalf of her ward but on behalf of the entire city. Her recent work with regard to the condominiumization of the Armory is a case in point. As a trained attorney Susan only lent her support to the vote for the effort once she felt the legal documents provided proper protection for the city while at the same time opening the opportunity to bring the National Sailing Hall of Fame to Newport,  which will be an extraordinary addition to our architectural and tourist offerings and a perfect fit for the “Sailing Capital of the World.”

Newport is a great city and deserves smart, well-meaning city councilors to help guide it. I believe that Susan Taylor is precisely that type of candidate.
