Now that the holidays have passed, it’s time to countdown the days until spring returns to Newport, right? Wrong. There are loads of events happening around town this winter that make it worth sticking around Aquidneck Island in January, February and March. Here are five coming up at Newport Vineyards alone that will help keep your winter doldrums away:

Thursday, January 26th, 2017: Eat + Drink Local Chef Series with Matt Gennuso of Chez Pascal | Drink with the Winemaker. Dine with the Chef. Winter nights call for the warmth of good wine, amazing food and great company. Savor just that with Newport Vineyards’ Winter Chef Series featuring the acclaimed Chef Matt Gennuso of Chez Pascal. Sit in the Meadow Room adorned with rustic barn-wood walls, Chef Gennuso will walk guests through a menu crafted just for this event, paired with Newport Vineyards wines explained by Newport Vineyards winemaker George Chelf. Please call 401.848.5161 x2 for reservations. This is an intimate event with limited seating.

Friday, February 17, 2017: WINEterfest Speakeasy | Sip, savor and swing into WINEterfest Weekend at Newport Vineyards’ Speakeasy Soiree. Dance the night away with music from members of the New Providence Big Band, a welcome glass of wine and handcrafted light fare. Speakeasy attire and flare encouraged!

Saturday-Sunday, February 18th-19th, 2017: 21st Annual WINEterfest | Celebrate the season at Newport Vineyards’ 21st Annual WINEterfest Weekend. Two days full of grape stomping, ice wine bar tasting goodness. Enjoy live music from Little Compton Band on Saturday and The Pourmen on Sunday, while sipping at Newport Vineyards’ infamous Ice Wine Bar. Marvel at the creations of the LIVE ice sculpting performance on Saturday or LIVE wine statue on Sunday. Warm your toes in a bucket of grapes by signing up to compete in one of the Grape Stomp Competitions!

Thursday, February 23: Wine + Cheese Class | Join the Newport Vineyards crew for an evening where wine and cheese experts take you on a journey through artisanal cheeses paired with Newport Vineyards wines. PLUS! Receive $5 a purchase of $25 or more in the Marketplace that evening only. Dine at Brix following the class to cap off the night in front of their fireplace.

Saturday, February 25th: Barrel of Laughs Comedy Series | Head to Newport Vineyards for an evening of wine and a barrel of laughs as host and comedian Jeremy Furtado welcomes comedians from around the region (comedians and headliner to be announced soon!) Make it dinner and a show with reservations at BRIX Restaurant or our Vineyard Cafe (staying open late exclusively for the show!). Reservations required, please call 401.848.5161.
