Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen: Ready to Make Waves in Rhode Island

Newport Shipyard General Manager Eli Dana announced back on November 19, 2015 that Newport Shipyard had acquired the Newport Charter Yacht Show from Newport Exhibition Group.

 
 

Scheduled for Tuesday, June 21 through Friday, June 24, the Newport Charter Yacht Show has been around for 35 years, and this year it features 30 luxury charter yachts that have traveled to New England from around the globe. They will be docked at it’s new venue, Newport Shipyard.

“Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen provides a platform for brokers and their clients to familiarize themselves with the charter yachts and their captains and crews that work the East Coast during the popular cruising months of June through September,” said Newport Shipyard General Manager Eli Dana. “At the same time, the four-day event allows builders and companies providing luxury products and yachting services to the industry to showcase their products.”

Thirty yachts are currently registered for the event. The participating yachts include 13 luxury sailing vessels, ranging from 53 to 123 feet, and nine motor vessels that each measure in at over 100 feet. The two largest motor vessels are the 161-foot (49m) superyacht Zoom Zoom Zoom, offered by the brokerage firm of Northrop & Johnson, and the 160-foot (48.7m)Clarity, offered by IYC.

As presenting sponsor, Helly Hansen will have a mobile pop-up shop on-site throughout the show. Exhibiting vendors, showing their wares along the main thoroughfare at Newport Shipyard, will include AERE Marine Group; Aweigh Fitness; Cloud City DronesCulinary ConvenienceGlobal Satellite USA LLCNMI –  Permateek SyntheticNautic Crew Worldwide;Port SupplyScavin Equipment Company LLC; and WheelHouse Technologies.  U.S. Superyacht Association will have its own sponsors showing under the organization’s own special tent.

Bank Rhode Island will sponsor a daily breakfast on the “checkerboard patio” outside of Newport Shipyard’s popular eatery Belle’s Café. Special events start with a captain and crew’s briefing and happy-hour social on Monday and continue with a drone competition (captains only) on Tuesday; a yacht hop on Wednesday; an industry-led educational seminar hosted byAmerican Yacht Charter Association on Thursday; and ever-popular crew competitions (for Best Charter Yacht Chef, Tablescaping, Healthy Beverage and Sunset Canapes) on Tuesday through Thursday. A party and awards dinner, sponsored by Ward’s Marine Electric and featuring the music of Will Evans, will take place on Thursday evening before the show’s final day on Friday.
